Controlled pile burning

CAL FIRE will be conducting pile burning near the Boggs Mountain Helitack Base to remove hazardous fuel loading and to create defensible space for the Helitack Base and Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest. All burning will be staffed, with most burning occurring during daylight hours. There is potential for piles to smolder at night. Burning is anticipated to last one week. Flames and smoke may be visible throughout the greater Cobb Mountain, Middletown, Seigler Springs and Hidden Valley Lake communities.

Road 400 Closure

“Forest Road 400 on Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest has been severely impacted by the recent storms. CAL FIRE staff have closed a portion of the road indefinitely due to a slide from above at the Forest road 220/400 intersection and below at the Forest Road 300/ 400 Intersection as highlighted on the map. There is no estimated time on re-opening. The area encircled in red on the map, which includes a portion of Crew Trail is not safe and is also closed. Recreating during inclement weather conditions is discouraged until weather subsides as areas of the forest can become more hazardous. Forest staff reminds visitors to plan ahead before arriving to the outdoors.
