Hoberg Loop, one of the original trails established at Boggs, is nearing completion. On the morning of Saturday October 19 we plan to organize a group to finish the work and fine tune the trail. We’d like to offer a huge shout out to Calpine for, once again, putting a whole lot of muscle into working with FOBM to start clearing the path for Grizzly Trail. On Thursday September 19, a small army of Calpine employees joined us in cutting in the first section of the trail. Chris Moe followed up this week with our Bobcat excavator, which Calpine also made possible, and continued with bringing back Grizzly Trail. Nate’s Cutoff is now open! Nate’s Cutoff is a trail connecting Gail’s Trail to Boggs PeakTrail on the southeast side of the forest. Many thanks to Ivo Nuti of Boy Scout Troop405 in Pleasant Hill. Ivo and his family have a cabin in the area and come up often tospend time hiking and mountain biking at Boggs. So, when it came time for Ivo to comeup with an Eagle Project on his path to the rank of Eagle Scout, he wanted to givesomething back to BMDSF. So, he teamed up with FOBM to bring back Nate’s Cutofftrail. Ivo worked with FOBM on several trail workdays learning trail building technique,planning and flagging the trail and on Saturday September 14 brought some of the kidsin the troop up to do the final work on the trail.
