Game trail is next on our list and, thanks to Calfire, Chris Moe and FOBM volunteers, significant progress has already been made. For those who may be unfamiliar with Game, it is on the northeast side of the forest and can be accessed from the bottom of Jethro’s trail. Next Saturday, November 16 we plan to assemble a crew to groom the trail. The work will be mostly shaping the trail with mcleods and rakes as well as loppers for cutting back brush encroaching on the trail. We will meet in the morning and work until around 12:00 noon. As always, lunch will be provided by FOBM however you must RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to join us.

If unable to make it to our trail work day, it is a brilliant time to visit the forest whenever you feel the urge. The Oaks, Maple, Dogwood and poison oak are ablaze with bright fall colors and the little bit of precip we have received has settled the dust. So get out there and enjoy!

Hoberg’s Loop Now open!

Thanks to our intrepid trail crew Hoberg’s Loop was completed on Saturday Oct. 19. You may have encountered the fork off of Mac’s Trail already but, if not, check it out. According to our sources, Hoberg’s Loop was  the first trail built on BMDSF when Hoberg’s resort was a major destination for the Bay area so it likely dates back to the 1950’s or perhaps earlier. It’s great to have it back!

Hoberg Loop, one of the original trails established at Boggs, is nearing completion. On the morning of Saturday October 19 we plan to organize a group to finish the work and fine tune the trail. The work will include the use of mcleods, rakes and shovels. Please RSVP to [email protected] if you wish to join us. Spots are limited so respond as soon as possible. Lunch will be provided by FOBM with more details to follow for those who plan to attend.
