With spring comes increased vegetation encroaching on trails and repair of weather related trail damage. Consider joining us in preparing the trails for the summer ahead. We will meet on Sunday April 19 in the morning and work until approximately 12 noon. Depending on the crew, we will be brush clearing on various trails, and possibly clearing the alignment of John’s Trail. More information will follow for those who sign up.

Spots are limited so RSVP by emailing us at fobm@boggsmountain.org no later than Thursday April 16 to be included. As always, lunch will be provided.

New maps are now available! We recently received a new batch of trail maps with updated trails. They are $3.00 and available at the kiosk in the Boggs Parking lot. The new trails added are Game, Ball Cap and High Point. Coming soon; a downloadable, georeferenced trail map using the Avenza Maps app. 

It’s a terrific time to visit Boggs. The Dogwood and wildflowers are blooming, and the trails are dust free!

Trail work day 03/01/26

On Sunday March 1 a group of 15 FOBM volunteers with a huge assist from the CAL FIRE Helitack crew continued work on Ball Cap trail. Ball Cap, when completed, will run between road 400 and 600 adding 9/10 of a mile to our trail system. The day started out cool and overcast but by lunchtime broke into a beautiful blue sky with puffy white clouds. Ball Cap will be ready for prime time this spring giving us around 17 miles of restored trails at Boggs. Thank you to all who participated!

Next Sunday March 1 will be our next trail work day. The plan is to continue work on Ball Cap trail. The majority of the trail has been cleared however one section in the middle remains to be cleared of downed trees. Sunday’s work will include some chainsaw work, as well as digging a trail bed. We will meet on Sunday morning at 8:30 am and work until around noon. As always, lunch will be provided. Please email us if you would like to join at fobm@boggsmountain.org . Thursday January 22 marked our annual Calpine trail work day. FOBM board members and somewhere north of thirty Calpine volunteers tackled the old Ball Cap trail. We split up into three teams, one working on a realignment around a huge root ball and tree on Hardtail trail that fell during one of the intense late December storms and the two other teams started from opposite ends of Ball Cap and worked toward the middle. Bushwacking through the brush and downed trees was challenging but the two teams came awfully close to meeting before breaking for pizza and dessert also provided by Calpine. Since the formation of FOBM Calpine has been a fantastic supporter in terms of both funding and the hard work in clearing and rebuilding trails. Many thanks to Calpine and all who took the day off from their regular jobs to join us in bringing back Ball Cap trail. Unfortunately I forgot my camera that day however if anyone that joined us that day took pictures, I would be happy to post them.
