Friends of Boggs Mountain

Who We Are

Friends of Boggs Mountain (FOBM) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed to enhance the visitor’s experience in the forest through educational, interpretive, and recreational programs, help in development of facilities, and assist with maintenance and infrastructure improvements at Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest (BMDSF). The organization cooperates with BMDSF management and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to meet those objectives.

With BMDSF oversight and approval, we are organizing work crews to help rebuild Boggs trails. Please support our efforts with a donation and/or join as a member to help us revitalize the forest for all visitors! Thank you in advance.

Many thanks to the Middletown Composite Mountain Biking Team for their help in clearing trails on Saturday Feb. 24. We had over thirty people participating and cleared miles of trails. The mountain biking team trains at Boggs and were eager to give back to the community!

Friends of Boggs Mountain is sponsoring a free map and compass class on Saturday November 4 at 10:00 am at The Little Red School House in Cobb. The address is 15780 Bottle Rock Rd., Cobb. During this class, our instructor will help you understand a topographic map, proper use of your compass, and how to use the two together. You'll learn about magnetic north, true north, and map symbology. After covering these fundamentals, you'll get time to practice orienting a map in proper north direction and understanding contour lines. This engaging class is a great introduction to outdoor navigation and map reading on Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest!Please RSVP to [email protected] by Wednesday, November 1 and arrive 5 - 10 minutes prior to the start time listed. In addition, while hunting (with permit) is allowed, since the Valley Fire of Sept. 2015, target shooting has been and continues to be prohibited until further notice.
